Between Germiston, Simmer & Jack and Germiston Simmer there are 86 players that represented Transvaal. Amongst the more well known players are Jimmy Kotze (wing 1946- 1951) who was known as the “Simmer Express”, Jannie van Deventer, who in the early 70’s was known as the “sweetheart” of Ellispark, and then also Tommy Symons, who for many years held the record for the most tries scored and the most games played for Transvaal,
The late Glynn Davies, who immigrated from Wales and worked at the Simmer and Jack mine in the 1930’s, was through his dedication and involvement (as player, coach and committee member) at Simmer & Jack and later Germiston Simmer and also with the Kwaggas and the Kwagga-Barbanans, a true stalwart.
Simmer boys that were instrumental in Transvaal winning the Currie Cup, were Barry Schmidt (1952) and Piet Coetzee (1974). Transvaal captains from the ranks of Simmer are Okkie Oosthutzen (1957 - 1960) and Come Pypers (1974- 1980).
