A code of conduct aids to remind administrators, coaches, parents and supporters that rugby must be administered, organized and presented for the benefit and enjoyment of children of all ages who want to play the game at a club affiliated to the GLRU.
 
CODE OF CONDUCT FOR SUPPORTERS
  • Behave in an orderly manner – do not use foul language or insult coaches or referees
  • Acknowledge good play – own team as well as opposition
  • Respect the opponents
  • Discourage violence and foul play at all times
  • Remember that they are not Springboks
  • Adhere to the rules of all clubs
  • Stay off the field at all times
  • Do not drink alcohol on the playing fields
 
CODE OF CONDUCT FOR PLAYERS
  • Play to enjoy the game
  • Play according to the rules of the game
  • Do not question the decision of the referee
  • Let the captain or the coach ask the necessary question
  • Compose yourself - do not loose your temper
  • Be a good sportsman – give credit for good play from your own team and that of your opponents
  • Remember the aim of the game is:
    • Enjoyment
    • To develop your skills
    • To develop camaraderie
    • Feel good
  • Work hard during practice – without practice you and your side will not be successful
  • Develop your skills
  • Remember – rugby is a team sport and does not consist of individuals
  • Do not swear at your opponents
  • Do not use dirty play
  • Be an ambassador for your club
  • Listen to the coach at all times
 
CODE OF CONDUCT FOR PARENTS/GUARDIANS
  • Your child is participating in the sport because he enjoys it. Never force your child to play.
  • Never humiliate your child if he makes an error or loses a game
  • Be an example for your son – your child learns the best when he follows an example
  • Let your child equip himself with sportsmanship
  • Inform your child that participation and giving it his best is more valuable than winning
  • Do not use foul language and behave orderly
  • Do not question referee’s decisions and honesty in public
  • Acknowledge the worth and importance of the coaches and referees – remember they are doing it voluntary and sacrifice their time and experience for your child
  • Violence should be condemned, off and on the field
  • Adhere to the rules of all clubs
  • Stay off the fields at all times
  • Don’t shout at your child how to play while he is playing, because he must listen to his captain and coach and you can confuse him
  • If parents commit themselves to being at a game on a Saturday they must be there
  • A Medical Certificate must be submitted to the Coach stating that the player is FIT to practice, on the Monday, if a player was injured during the game on a Saturday”.
 
CODE OF CONDUCT FOR COACHES
  • Encourage a child when he needs it and set a good example. Do not shout at, swear at, or hit players
  • Be reasonable when making demands on the players’ time, energy and enthusiasm. Keep in mind that he has to cope with more than your demands
  • Ensure that all players get an opportunity to play in a team
  • Help your team develop respect for the opponent’s qualities, the referees’ judgment and for the coaches of other teams
  • Make it your goal to stay abreast of the basic and correct coaching principles, thereby ensuring growth and development of the player
  • Encourage players to develop their basic skills and sportsmanship
  • Support club rules and decisions
  • Don’t criticise referees decisions in public
  • Be an ambassador of your club
 
A CODE FOR ADMINISTRATORS
  • Put the interest of the participants, the Junior club and the game, first
  • Qualify yourself for the job
  • Have the long term interests of the participants, the Junior club and the sport at heart
  • See yourself as a contributor in a process where (on a continuous basis) the child and the sport are improved
 
NB:- All players must be registered before they can play.
 

Practice will start in May every Monday and Wednesday between 18:00 and 19:00 @ Germiston Stadium
